What is your personal connection to your judging category?
With my work in public health, it became increasingly clear that the top health priority of our time is climate change. From the disproportionate impact of fossil fuel pollution on low-income neighborhoods to the devastating damage caused by wildfires in California, climate solutions require immediate action. Through my work with Next Generation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and now GMMB, I have been able to play a role in the fight to elect leaders, to enact policies, and most importantly, to support and promote innovative solutions from corporations, nonprofits, and individuals at the forefront of the environmental movement.
What made you want to volunteer to judge the OIAs?
Our greatest challenges require creativity to solve. All entrants to the OIA’s have already thought outside the box to make their corner of the world a better place—and it is my sincere pleasure to play a role in amplifying their successes.
