Many people use the Internet to do incredible things in their communities. Yet, as we’ve learned, there’s a dark side to the Internet where bad actors cause harm.
Fortunately, there are mission-driven organizations standing up for a safer Internet and fighting against those who make it a dangerous place.
The nominees in this category are people and organizations who understand that we can’t realize the full potential of the Internet unless we can keep it safe from disruption, crime, disinformation, and other abusive activities. In this year of global pandemic, so many activities that used to take place in-person have moved online – education, health care, fundraisers, doctors visits, meetings and so much more. Now more than ever, as the Internet has been the means to support and advance work, education, and play around the world during the pandemic, these nominees have faced new challenges on top of the old ones. In 2020, they have brought an even stronger sense of purpose to their mission of keeping the Internet safe for a vast and increasing variety of users, purposes, and experiences.
This is what I live for – celebrating and supporting organizations that make technology secure and helpful for all users.
I hope you will join me in celebrating the .ORGs that are promoting a safer internet during the 10 Days of .ORG beginning November 30th. Learn more here: www.orgimpactawards.org
